“Huh… well, let’s continue. September twenty-fourth. Our first implimentation of-“
[Loud screaming from the background, accompanied by muffled voices.]
[Fitzgerald]
“-Of the new Plasmid, Batch A177, met with failure after testing by one Marcus Mallorey, a volunteer test subject.”
[More screaming from background.]
[Voice in background]
“Easy, easy, Mallorey! Don’t try to move!”
[Second Voice]
“Oh God! Oh God help me!”
[Fitzgerald]
*Clears Throat* “Batch A177 has been nicknamed the “Houdini” plasmid, after the famous escape artist and magician. Testing began at 2:13pm, with simple objectives and outstanding results - the subject literally would burst into a gaseous cloud of free-roaming cell particles-“
[Second Voice in Background]
“UUUAAAGH!”
[Fitzgerald]
“-And resolidifies himself in another location. Earlier tests were… random in where the plasmid ‘chose’ to reassemble the subject, but Batch A177 permitted more efficient mental control over the ah, well, I hate to use such a crude term as ‘teleportation’ but the results are quite similar.”
[Voice in Background]
“Okay, that’s it, Mallorey, just breath slowly, okay? Doctor Fitzgerald, when you’re ready.”
[Fitzgerald]
“Thank you, Brodie. To continue, after the preliminary tests, Mallorey was confident in his abilities with Batch A177, he was… adament that we move on to phase two, which, I would have preferred to perform at schedule. Unfortunately, Mr. Mallorey refused to listen and attempted to ‘teleport’ himself through the glass pane into the observation room with my assisstant Brodie and I. Subject Mallorey, unfortunately, could not… extend his structure through dense materials, and subsequently, his plasmid has reintegrated him… half-way through the glass.”
[Second Voice in Background]
“Mnnrgh! UAAAGH!”
[Fitzgerald]
“Tell me, Mr. Mallorey, can you move? What do you feel?”
[Mallorey]
“Help me! God, please, get me out!”
[Fitzgerald]
“That would be quite impossible on our part, Mr. Mallorey. Tell me, can you feel your legs? What about your hand?”
[Mallorey]
“Let me out! Let me out damn you!”
[Fitzgerald]
“Calm down, Mr. Mallorey. The only one capable of escaping this is you.”
[Mallorey]
“It… it’s not working! The plasmid isn’t working! I can’t… I can’t get free!”
[Fitzgerald]
“I see.”
[Brodie]
“What do we do, Doctor? Should we get Mr. Fontaine down here, do you think we should have someone from upper management look into this?”
[Fitzgerald]
“Don’t be absurd. This is just a temporary setback.”
[Brodie]
“But the man is… is fused into the wall, Doctor! We have to get him out! He’s in pain!”
[Fitzgerald]
“Unfortuantely it would be impossible to free him - as you said, he’s fused to the glass. The only option is, well…”
[Sound of a desk draw being open, and a pistol being cocked.]
[Brodie]
“Doctor, what are you-“
[Mallorey]
“No! Please! GOD NO-“
[Gunshot.]
[Fitzgerald]
*Sigh* “My apologies, Mr. Mallorey.”
[Brodie]
“Good… God…”
[Recording Ends.]
